A Word from Pastor Arthur
When God called me to be the Lead Pastor at Metropolitan Baptist Church over 5 years ago, I never expected to have a year like 2020. It was a chaotic and uncertain year for us as a church, but most of all has left me extremely humbled. In 1 Corinthians 2:5, the Apostle Paul reminds us that, “Our faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” Today more than ever we have to do whatever it takes to fulfill the Great Commission, but not with human wisdom. The work that’s before us is going to take much more than the wisdom of men can offer. We need to lean on the power of God to continue the mission to which He has called us.
Today, all generations have grown farther away from God. Currently, South Florida is known to be one of the most unchurched places in the nation. But what if we could change that narrative in our city, in our county, and in our country? I believe God by His power wants to spark a revival that would go beyond the walls of our churches (a movement that would address the social pain, the lostness, and cultural brokenness of our communities). You are a vital piece of this movement. No matter your age, economic status, or educational background, you have a part to play.
For over 40 years, Metropolitan Baptist Church has been proclaiming the gospel and sharing hope with all generations. The Lord has been extremely kind to us for more than four decades yet now it feels like we are in a different season in the life of our church. COVID-19 has uprooted and rearranged so much in our lives and ministry, yet God has been faithful. NOW is the TIME uprooted and refocus on our commitment to the great commission of making disciples and proclaiming the gospel.
“Our faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”
My prayer is that we will commit to reach people where they are and point them to Jesus, the living Hope. Your generosity has helped us to move this mission forward. Together we must trust the Holy Spirit to give us the wind we need for the “ship” of our ministry. A wind that will lead to true WorShip, authentic FellowShip, and Christ-centered DiscipleShip. God is calling us to join Him on His mission.
